Contrasts

Of spikes and stone are carved their hides

Tails lash and arc-born lightning rides

Four arms that wield four deadly spears

Two flame, one ice, one your worst fears

When they appear, your doom is cast

All spells will fail, your greatness past

Tech weapons to pierce any shield

Shatter by thought, god-mind revealed

Though seem but kin from nightmares sprung

They have a secret never sung

A softness in a neutron star

A care so strong no powers bar

At home in deep and fearsome cave

You’ll hear one growl “Now you behave!”

As fluffy kittens romp and play

Bat at their hands and mew all day

The older cats are fed nice scraps

From demon weasels caught in traps

No bards will croon of such fond cares

Monsters must fit in evil squares
